GENDER INEQUALITY
It has been found that nowadays it has become very important to incorporate both men and women in the workplace. However, in most of the countries, there is still the problem of incorporating women in the workplace is prevailing. However, on the other hand in addition to this, it has been found that women have been running equally with the men nowadays in terms of achievement and there is also no problem regarding the achievement of women. On the contrary, it has been found that these problem has been arising due to women putting more hours in the household activities than and men and this is believed to greatly disadvantageous for them. Gender inequality also known as gender imbalance, can be defined as the type of imbalance in which the men and the women of the society do not enjoy equal rights (Huber 2015). This essay focuses on the overview of gender inequality and its occurrence. In addition to this, gender inequality in the workplace and its effect on society and individuals are also clearly described in this essay by taking the help of the theory of performativity by Judith. After these, the solution for the same is summarized, and answers for some question that might occur in the future have been answered by the help of different theories on gender inequality. Finally, this essay has been concluded by mentioning the future scope of gender inequality.
Gender inequality and its occurrence: Gender inequality is mainly caused by the social theories and religions that the people follow. As influenced by the idea of Allen (2018), it can be said that JudithButler’stheory of performativity is entirely based on herviews and thoughts on gender inequality. In addition to this, it can be said that her theory also focuses on politics and legality, both of which are equally important for the critical thinkers. As influenced by the idea of Allen (2018), it can be said that in the initial period of the theory, it was completely focused on representing women as the subject of feminism. However, after many arguments by Foucault, who argued that by the help of the juridical notions of power the construction of the subjects are done, this made Judith to starts the research for the uncovering the that how women become and subject and are allowed to stand before the law. In reference to the context of Cabantous et al. (2016), it can be said that the performativitynaming of anybody after the birth, might be either female or girl or boy or male is engaged in an artificial and binary, which helps in suppressing much more subversive disruptions of sexuality. As influenced by the idea of Gond et al. (2016), it can be said that identities of the gender fail in fitting within the binary form and also challenged the intelligibility along with subverting the gender binary.
Gender inequality in the workplace has been observed in many places. As influenced by the idea of Nielsen (2016), it can be said that gender inequalityin workplace results in the women being treated disadvantageously. It has been found that in spite of many hurdles in the workplace, women still have to face these issues of gender inequality in the workplace. As argued by some authors that gender inequality it is the women that makeup half of the total workforce, in more than four out of ten families. In reference to the context of Huber (2015), it can be said that in spite of making up half of the performance, women are never paid for their work. Arguments of other authors suggest that women are equal as per men, if not main. From the arguments of other authors, it can be implied that in spite of having more degrees and educations than men, women never receive the same amount of remuneration as per the men counterpart. As opined by Fernandez-Mateo & Fernandez (2016), it can be said thatthis issue has been prevailing in most of the countries and some of them have agreed to settle. For having a clear idea of gender inequality in the workplace, some of the examples of gender inequality are mentioned in this section in this section. As influenced by the idea of Lutter (2015), it can be said that gender inequality is on the rise in spite of being equally capable like the male counterpart in the society. For instance, it hasbeen found that there is less chance of the women to take part in the scientific and the technical work than the men. In addition to this, according to the report, only 4.6 percent of the women are likely to take part in the STEM in comparison with the 10.30 percent of the men of the society. As influenced by the idea of Nielsen (2016), it can be said that among all the unfortunate things there isa little ray of hope for resolving the issues of gender inequality as the USA has agreed on reconsideration of the women in the workplace.
Effect of gender inequality on individual and society is extreme. In reference to the context of Ponthieux & Meurs (2015), it can be said that gender inequality affects the society and individuals in many ways, which end up resulting in gender-biased attitudes in many fields. This section of the essay focuses on the effect of gender inequality on the society and on individual lives of the people. As influenced by the idea of Wagner et al. (2015), it can be said that unchallenged dominance of the male culture has resulted in the subordination and also the exclusion of the women, even some male who cannot confirm hegemonic masculine forms. The results of this are the sidling of more than half of the talents, experience and knowledge of the world. This, in turn, leaves the society operating with a capacity of 50 %. As stated by Jayachandran (2015), it can be said thatthere is much evidence which shows that women in the society not only suffer from the poverty burns but are also deprived of the empowerment in the society. This is believed to be one of the main reasons for the elimination of women from society. On the other hand, it has been argued by other authors that men who do not confirm masculinity, is eliminated in this male-dominated world and this has resulted in losing huge amount of the human potential, at the cost of both men and women. In reference to the context of Jayachandran (2015), it can be saidthatother effects on the society and the lives of the individuals is the rigid form of the power and gender, which means that men are vulnerable to deadly violence and this further results in men not seeking the help of any medical services as and when needed. In reference to the context of Fincher (2016), it can be said that as women are sometimes represented as less than a human being, men never think twice before harming the women in the society. This is because, for the men of society, their satisfaction is more thanthe safety of women. Therefore, it can be said that all the above-mentioned information are considered as the effect of inequality on society and the lives of the individuals.
As influenced by the idea of Baland, Bardhan & Bowles (2018), it can be said that for summarizing the solution among many solutions, driving skills development equally and creating women role model can be used as a solution for solving gender inequality. This section of the essay focuses on the steps that can be taken by the country for solving the issues of gender equality. As influenced by the idea of Jayachandran (2015), it can be said that the theory of gender equality states that it is very important to have the in-depth idea about the gender diversity and the discrimination based on the gender diversity should have its approach within a broader framework. In reference to the context of Baland, Bardhan & Bowles (2018), it can be said that the second step that can be followed for reducing the issues of gender diversity in the country, is that educating people about gender equality and making them understand about their right and the laws that are related to the gender inequality. As stated by Baland, Bardhan & Bowles (2018), it can be said that it is the duty of each and every individual to play a vital role in solving the issue of gender inequality in society. Apart from these two steps, the next important step is to meet the other groups and understand them and their culture. As influenced by the idea of Jayachandran (2015), it can be said that it is very important to check whether the previously made assumption about the gender inequality is right or wrong by the help of three basic strategies such as engaging with curiosity, suspendingjudgmentand finding common ground. Last but not the least the last step for resolving the issue of gender inequality is to develop an environment which is enabling and which would let all the individuals live freewith all the rights that they deserve. As influenced by the idea of Nielsen (2016), it can be said that these are the steps that can be taken into account for solving the issues of gender diversity.
Last but not least, it is the duty of every individual to find out whether the problem of gender inequality is solved or not, and how can they contributeto solving the issue. As influenced by the context of Lutter (2015), it can be said that it may be objected by most of the individuals that there isa meaningful difference between the females and the males and this is believed to be the main reason for gender inequality in the society. In addition to this, it has been found that it has been argued by many authors that equality cannot be used as females are completely different from females in many ways. On the other hand, it argued by the feminists that they never tag females and males to be indistinguishable or identical while referring to gender equality. As influenced by the idea of Ponthieux & Meurs (2015), it can be said that because of the arguments of different authors regarding the gender equality, it would be very tough to solve the issue of gender inequality in the society within a specific time span, and the questions of gender inequality may still arise in the future. In reference to the idea of Wagner et al. (2015), it can be said that even in the absence of gender discrimination, males and females may be discriminated on the basis of their genders. Moreover, to solve the issue of gender inequality or gender discrimination, it is never required to show a 1:1 ratio of women and men in the workplace. Therefore, it can be said that it is quite clear in spite of all; the identified steps for resolving these issues with an individual contribution, the question of inequality all keep on rising due to the arguments made by different authors and philosophers.
Analyzing the entire report has been made very clear that women have been overcoming many hurdles and struggles in the workplace, but still, they are not recognized as the men. In addition to this, they never earn the same as the male counterpart of the society, in spite of having more education and degrees. Therefore, for concluding the essay, it can be said that finding the answers mentioned in the last part of the essay can solve half of the problem of gender inequality in the coming days. The answers to these questions have also beensuccessfully found that questions of gender inequality will keep on arising as long as the arguments of different authors and philosophers are solved.
