You are the newly-appointed Human Resource Advisor in a medium-sized business that employs approximately 150 mostly professional employees. Of these employees, 10 occupy managerial roles. The CEO of your company values learning and wants to increase the quantity and quality of learning at work. However, the company does not have the financial resources to fund employee participation in external formal education and training programs. The CEO has considered alternative approaches to fostering learning at work. After reading a Harvard Business Review Blog (see https://hbr.orq/2014107Ivou-cant-be-a-great-manager-if-you-are-not-a-good-coach) the CEO decided that the organisation should strive to develop a `coaching culture'. Therefore, the CEO has asked you to write a fully developed proposal for a training course on 'Coaching Skills for Managers'. The training course will be attended by the 10 managers. The CEO is aware that one-off training courses often do not result in behaviour change in the workplace and improved performance. Therefore the CEO wants the coaching skills training course to be designed in a way that facilitates transfer of learning and the course must be complemented by the formation of an action learning set to help ensure that the capabilities acquired during the training course are applied and further developed in the workplace.
The CEO has a strong academic background and is a firm believer in evidence-based practice. Your report must be tailored accordingly.

Background and Analysis of the Business Need
In a given case scenario, it is found that the organization has deployed 150 professional employees. Out of them, 10 are occupying managerial goals. The CEO of the company believes in enhancing learning and professional values of the employees. It will help the employees to improve their quality and quantity of work in the organization.
However, due to lack of financial resources, the CEO and the Human Resources (HR) department of the organization cannot organize for funded employee participation programs in the external environment. It will thereby help them overcome the current challenges at the workplace and subsequently help them manage the daily work routines in the organization.
The training course will be attended by these 10 managers and also the CEO will keep a track of the activities under this program. There will be one-off training courses that will assist these managers to improve their performance in the organization. Today, a manager is required to perform multiple tasks at the workplace and hence needs to upgrade his skills in a given working environment.
He need to learn - technical skills associated with his daily routine activities, human skills to manage the workforce, analytical skills to analyze the different situations that is more related to the sales of the organization, diagnostic skills to identify the risk factors and accordingly prepare the risk mitigation strategies, and conceptual skills to develop a new framework to improve the productivity levels in the organization (Smutny, Prochazka, & Vaculik, 2016).
Today, such needs arise for the managers in the organization due to several reasons. These include - dealing with adversity, maintaining professional attitude at the workplace, supervising the team, motivating the team to work and deliver the assigned tasks within the given timeframe, overcome conflicts at the workplace, build influence, create self-awareness so that the managers can overcome the different risk factors, develop new talent at the workplace, and finally delegate the responsibilities to all the team members in a given department of the organization (Smutny, Prochazka, & Vaculik, 2016).
As per the research reports, the top-level management needs to deal more with conceptual skills and the ground-level staff has to deal with more technical skills. It is the middle-level management that will require to focus on their human management skills to ensure that the assigned objectives are completed within the time and as per the expectations of the organization.
With the advent of new technologies, it is found that the ground-level staff will resist to learn the new technologies as they want to continue working on their traditional working methods (Smutny, Prochazka, & Vaculik, 2016). It is at this juncture that these managers need to be trained on change management skills as well so that they can motivate the team members and subsequently implement the new IT solution in the organization.
To overcome the risk factors of the external environment, the managers need to be provided training on the aspects of - time management, communications, team building, planning objectives, decision making, building skills for project management, motivation, managing human resources, and leading the team from the front (Ollila, Styhre, & Werr, 2015).
In some cases, the managers also need to act like leaders and thereby assist the team to complete the task as per the directions provided by the senior management of the organization. Today, with increased complexity in the internal and in the external working environment, the managers need to develop managerial skills so that they can process the inputs in the production function and accordingly generate desired outputs for the organization (Murti & Bino, 2014).
To overcome the workplace challenges, the managers need to be trained on the aspects of - identifying the objectives, setting the roadmap, eliminating the hurdles, motivating the team to work toward the objectives, monitor the performance, and modify the strategies wherever required (Murti & Bino, 2014). It will thereby assist the managers in managing the different complexities of the environment and also achieve required objectives within the timeframe.
It is this business need due to which the coaching program for the 10 managers will be organized in the organization. Under this coaching program, the managers also need to learn the soft skills such as - effective communication, conflict resolution, stress management, presentation skills, dealing with cultural issues, managing transition of the processes, and effective leadership (Bublitz & Noseleit, 2014). It will help the other team members overcome the workplace issues and thereby assist the team members to achieve desired outcomes in a given working environment of the organization.
