The assessment tasks for BSBWOR502 Lead and manage team effectiveness are included in this Student Assessment Tasks booklet and outlined in the assessment plan below.
To be assessed as competent for this unit, the student must complete all of the assessment tasks with satisfactory.

Each assessment task in this booklet consists of the following:
Assessment Task Cover Sheet
This must be filled out, signed and submitted together with your assessment responses.
If you are submitting hardcopy, the Cover Sheet should be the first page of each task’s submission.
If you are submitting electronically, print out the cover sheet, fill it out and sign it, then scan this and submit the file.
The Assessment Task Cover Sheet will be returned to you with the outcome of the assessment, which will be satisfactory (S) or not satisfactory (NS). If your work has been assessed as being not satisfactory, your assessor will include written feedback in the Assessment Task Cover Sheet giving reasons why. Your assessor will also discuss this verbally with you and provide advice on re-assessment opportunities as per RSB re-assessment policy.

Task summary
As the Marketing and Communications Manager for Football South East Coast (FSEC), you are required to develop a team performance plan to support the new Operational Plan.

Football South East Coast is sporting association based in a small town on the NSW South Coast and is responsible for administration and development of football for the NSW South East Coast. The association employs a General Manager, Operations Manager, Marketing and Communications Officer, High Performance Athlete Development Officer, Marketing Officer, Promotions Office, Administration Manager and Receptionist.
FSEC’s Vision is to be the number one sport played through South East NSW.
FSEC’s Mission is to grow football by supporting members and the football community through, strong leadership, sound communication and the provision of a clear strategic direction that secures the sport’s long-term prosperity.
Values listed in its current Strategic Plan include:
One of the organisation’s key strategic goals is to improve participation in community football, specifically to increase the total number of players by 4% in 2018.
Another goal is to increase the participation of girls aged between 5 and 18 by 2% in 2018.
These goals have been translated into an Operational Plan for the organisation.

Using the Internet, research both informal and formal staff reward and recognition schemes and make notes on what you find.
Choose and develop at least five examples that would be appropriate for your team in the case study.

You are required to roleplay the Marketing and Communications Officer at FSEC and conduct a meeting with the Marketing Officer to discuss their under-performance and to identify solutions to address the issue.

Two staff at FSCE have lodged complaints with you, the Communications Officer, about the Marketing Officer’s work.
The staff complain that Jackie is often talking to friends on her mobile and so when the office phone rings they answer the phone. Even when Jackie can see they are trying to answer queries that directly relate to her work, she does not end her personal call. This not only takes other staff member’s time in answering such calls, but also then to make notes for Jackie on the call.
The staff have said that the behaviour is recent, and until recently Jackie has always been hard-working and reliable.

Assessment Task 1
Answer 1.
The term Group dynamics could be traced back to as a part of sociology and psychology. Wilhelm Wundt is considered as the founder of experimental psychology showed interest in studying the dynamics of the community and on the other hand, Emile Durkheim a well-known sociologist influenced by the study of Wundt further delved in understanding the concept of group dynamics. It reveals about the formation, structure and functioning of the group. Group dynamics explains about the interactive forces between the individuals of the team in a social gathering.

The three aspects of group dynamics, which have adverse impact on the performance of the team are extreme loyalty for a specific group within an organisation, competition among the groups within the company and social loafing.

Social loafing is one of the adverse effect of group dynamics, where the individuals tend to put less effort for a group activity compared to what they could have done alone. The tendency have negative consequences and result in group friction and split as it builds resentment among the teammates.
Social loafing generates burnout for the persons working hard and adversely impacts the effort and performance of the entire group. It lessens the scope of identifying the individual talents. Social loafing is promoted by the large group size. More the number of members in a group, it becomes liable tendency for the person to loaf.

Assessment Task 3: Professional development policy and procedure project
3.1 Professional development policy and procedures for Football South East Coast
The policy document will give instructions to the staff of the South East Coast Football for their professional development. The document will highlight the areas to improve in order to attain success.
The policy will be applicable to all the members of Football South East Coast who are working with the company.
1. Conference: Different conferences will be arranged in order to update the employees about recent trends of the industry, upcoming opportunities and threats will be discussed.
2. On the Job training: Specialists of football can be invited to mentor the employees while working in the company. The mentor should be professional football player who could guide the staff on how to handle critical situation with the players.
For identifying the personal development needs, the management has to perform training need analysis. Initially, recognize the skills and knowledge required for the job and then evaluate the individuals to identify what they possess. Further, compare the observation with the required skills to identify the gaps.
The organization shall compare the results of the training and professional development programs after each 15 days to understand the effectiveness of it. If the outcome is positive then it should be continued.
As there are 50 employees in Football South East Coast and each of them will be trained, the budget should be judiciously allocated. Some amount of expenses are kept aside to give to the experts or spend in conferences, which accounts of $ 400. Rest $600 will be spend over 50 employees for development. However, 150$ will spent on top managers, that is for 5 people and remaining amount for the other staff.
Documentation and evaluation of the outcomes of professional development program should be done through electronic media with a help of appropriate ERP software. Use of software will ensure that data can be retrieved for later use much easily without any loss.

Assessment Task 4: Reward and recognition project
As the number of new players in Football South East Coast has increased and performance of the employees exceeded the desired results, the management should reward and give incentives to the staff to boost their morale. Few of the incentives that can be given are free 3 days trip to a nearby location for the entire team or arrange for free health check-up camps for the staff and their family regularly. Further, the workers should be appreciated and recognized for their contribution. In addition, some fun games can be arranged in the office for the staff for recreation.

The purpose of the meeting is to explain Jackie about her gaps in work and thereby problems created in the workplace.
As Jackie is busy over her personal calls, other employees has to take down her calls and make note for her future reference, thereby hampering the progress of other staff. Her job description is to attend the calls and further resolve the issue of the calls.
