You are required to carefully consider what you have learnt in relation to social determinants and the impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes. With this in mind, you are required to write Reflection B focusing on a change leader of your choice, who is bringing (or has brought) about positive outcomes by addressing a social determinant which prevents/prevented Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from achieving equal health status as non-Indigenous people.

2. Explain the social determinant (eg Racism) and how this is a barrier for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (approximately 200 words).
3. Explain the role your chosen Change leader (eg Adam Goodes), has played in addressing this social determinant, and therefore improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (approximately 200 words).
4. Discuss three ways you as a Registered Nurse/Midwife plan to provide culturally safe care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients that you care for (approximately 200 words).
5. Conclusion (approximately 75 words) In this critical reflection you are asked to apply your learning to your own culturally safe nursing and midwifery practice related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Through this assignment, the main focus is on the social determinant chosen as education and the leader is Linda Burney, upon which the assessment would be done. The assessment is the reflection on how the leader has bought changes in the Aboriginal community and how there has been a positive effect on the entire community (Wesley, 2019). The leader is Linda Burney, who is known for the social welfare and the moral obligations that have served the Aboriginal community.
Aboriginal people lack the quality of education and further even face the stigma of the huge income gaps and also the wide education gaps (Olson, 2019). The problem of the Aboriginal population is that apart from the lack of education, the Aboriginal population also faces discrimination such as not allowing them to get admitted to the regular Australian education system. Facing the issue of the low set of the education systems, as the educators are not trained and Aboriginal students also do not have the fair educational plans (Marmot, 2019). All this further creates inequalities that create low job opportunities for the Aboriginal people. As they are fully trained, equipped, and educated, it further creates the problem of the disparities in earning status, securing oneself financially, independently, and even facing a wide set of differences (Palmer, 2019). The Australia education system is advanced and as Aboriginals do not have the past good learning experience they further face disparity and even the complications of low awareness, low social status, and wide income disparity. The Aboriginal group is also not educated in adopting a healthy lifestyle, have a higher chronic disease, and suffers largely due to the social disparity, leading to a wide future implication.
The change leader is Linda Burney who is by background an Aboriginal woman, having great initiatives in the guide welfare duties such as initiating the polices like abusive control, domestic violence cases and even during her time, she has represented the equal edge status to the welfare of the Aboriginal people. She is part of the federal House of Representatives and has further bought the welfare for the Aboriginal people bypassing the policies in education (Horwitz, 2020). As she has to lead the career, she has been appointed as the part of the Parliamentary Secretary in the Department of Education and Training in 2005 and with passing the education polices and peace polices for the overall welfare of the Aboriginal group (Horwitz, 2019). This has further helped in proving equal education support and even has helped in providing overall betterment treatment values. Such as the policy of the Aboriginal student inclusive classroom policy, is to ensure that the Aboriginal student is getting the same fair treatment and all the facilities which are being given to the normal nonaboriginal students. Other policies such as teaching about the Aboriginal background, culture, and the various arts, in order to make the non-aboriginal have fair respect and the Aboriginal students getting fair treatment and better dignity.

As a nurse, while practicing the culturally safe practices, it is essential to hold the respect, dignity, and the integrity that can provide an overall betterment. It can help in gaining the information from the client, understanding what their background is, and providing them better practices (Abnousi, 2019).
The culturally safe practices are to focus on providing adequate care, advanced treatment, and also ensuring, all the guidelines are dutifully met without any violation of the codes of ethics, quality of the services, nursing principles, and the beliefs (Doobay-Persaud, et al ,2019). It would help to ensure, all the patient is being taken care of the utmost care, best understanding, and having a sense of the belief while getting treatment...
The nurse also has to provide adequate knowledge about the practicing treatment, care and even providing the best of the beliefs, with the patient (Gard, et al, 2019). For example, if the patient is getting treatment for the ulcer problem in the stomach, then the practicing nurse has to detail, what is the treatment, what is the medication, how it will benefit, what are the precautionary measures and how to avoid getting the same problem in the future. Through sharing knowledge, it helps in assuring the patient (Abnousi, 2019).
In the end, while the Aboriginal people have their secured place in the Australian system, due to the wide complexities. There has been a low favorable education system in the past, leading to wide differences. Subsequently, though the better education system and by the active policies by the change leader Linda Burney, it has helped to transits the education system into a favorable opportunity
