1. You need to create three separate reports for task 1, 2 & 3 — Since this is a business report I require an Executive Summary, Scope, and Objective, Findings and Recommendation for each report. REMEMBER these reports should be business-like which means make them concise and use the appendix for the supporting information. Task 1 & 2 report will be part of the Business Case Appendix so you don't need to repeat the information in each report.
2. Task 1 requires you to list all stakeholders from the case and a few that some research would suggest would be part of a project like this. Use a tool to analysis them — the majority have used the Power Interest Matrix. Please explain why you have classified a stakeholder as manage closely. Remember you need to use requirements gathering tools to get the stakeholders opinion. I need a copy of the tool and the answers you made up to support the business case. For top marks please justify why you chose each tool or tools for each stakeholder.
3. Task 2 everyone seems to have done well
4. Business Case a. Objectives focus on the benefits of stakeholder engagement — add an assumption benefits are only to be based on stakeholder engagement. b. Risks same focusing on changes to scope, communication, and stakeholder - add an assumption risks are based on c. Budget please let me know the estimation method used Analogy or bottom up are two most common. d. Your recommendation must include the stakeholder engagement strategy and the security required 'the sponsor would like to know what levels of continued engagement they should have with communities and other stakeholders, and (based on your research) what levels of security the various exploration and extraction sites should have' e. Scope statement for the business case could focus on task 1-3 and the deliverables for task 1-3.
If you have not completed Task 1 & 2 you are in danger of not completing the assignment on the due date. Can I suggest you start working on all three reports and don't try and complete task 1 than 2 than 3 because a bad business case makes it difficult to pass the assignment?
TASK 2: EXPLORING THE BROADER POLITICAL AND COMMUNICATIONS ISSUES LINKED TO THE PROJECT
In the context of project of gas extraction, the KEF-Gas Pty. expansion is business by developing new sites for related to gas extraction through fracking. Fracking is also called as Hydraulic fracturing in which drilling into the earth is carried out with by putting highpressure water mixture on the rock for releasing the gas inside. In this process, the mixture of water, sand and chemicals is injected into the rock at high pressure for managing flow of the gas towards the head of the well. This process is mainly controlled through drilling.
As per the present case, company is also assessing several environmental protection related issues in the of protest groups which are opposed to the fracking. In this regards, several environmental safety related issues are addressed that include drilling may have triggered four small earthquakes. In addition to that Shale Gas Summit in Brisbane has released of an independent report commissioned by KEF-Gas Pty. in which company has admitted fracking influences small earth quakes. This is considered most important environmental impact that could transformed in mega disasters. Therefore, some legal action could be imposed on business entity (Eskerod and Jepsen, 2016).In this context of present case, it has been addressed that new sites of company influences significant impact on around 5000 people living in rural communities. In this context, some other fauna related environmental issues are also addressed that includes wallabies, rare birds and fishing practices.
As per case, it has addressed that the gas extraction is facing political issues or legal penalties which could be occurred to non-compliance of rules and regulations of national and domestic governments which are related to fracking practices. These political issues have been influenced due to non-compliance rules of national government related to land acquisition and rehabilitation plan for people, lack of appropriate policies of environment protection and safety, improper consideration of labour laws, delay in reporting of different plans of company to both domestic and national authorities (Heagney, 2016). All these political issues influence various protest group in order to create several barriers in operations of KEF-Gas Pty.
In the present case, company is facing great opposition from different protest groups for different projects in Australia. The main reason behind this is that project manager has not developed an appropriate communication system for managing conversation about national benefits and positive aspects of fracking to local citizen. If project is able to adopt an appropriate communication strategy than different aggression of different protest groups towards several projects will be increased significantly. Project manager could be failed to convey findings of international studies which have been performed in US, the UK and New Zealand that have shown that fracking is safe because nature and dilution of chemicals used in fracking operations in Australia have not created any negative impact on the water quality due to lack of efficient communication system and improper support (Bourne, 2016). Therefore, project manager could be failed to assess support of local citizens. In addition to that lack of an appropriate communication and reporting system within organization will lead negative impact on overall operational capabilities of firm along with productivity of employees.
