Healthcare Service Delivery and Legal Aspects
The assignment deals with health care service delivery and the legal aspects of this issue. The assignment focuses on some of the issues that arise while working in a hospital. The purpose of this assignment is to identify the cause of these issues and the ways to rectify it. For the purpose of this assignment, Al Qassimi hospital has been chosen. Situated in Sharjah, the hospital provides care services to patients 24*7. It is one of the most reputed hospitals in the U.A.E. However, there are certain problems that can be attributed to the hospital. One of the biggest problems that the hospital faces is the lack of health card insurance for the staffs. The staffs working in the hospital have to make equal payment as other patients in order to be admitted to the hospital. This is a huge problem faced by the members of the hospital. This topic has been selected as in the modern day such problems can often lead to employee turnover. Satisfaction of the employees is necessary for any organisation. In this regard, the payment of the medical bills of the staffs can adversely affect job satisfaction leading to employee turnover and loss of the health care centre.
Issues encountered at workplace
Every organisation has certain issues that can be a challenging factor for the existence of the company. These issues can cause misunderstanding and lack of satisfaction and motivation for the employees. At times, these issues occur due to the lack of managerial expertise or due to the fault of the employees. Other times these issues exist due to natural causes. In a health care sector, also there are certain issues that hinder the progress of the centre. These issues are stated in order to understand the impact of the problem. The issues that arise in Al Qassimi Hospital have been stated in this assignment (Bauer, 2014).
Commonly the problems faced by every health centre are also encountered by Al Qassimi hospital. The issues faced by the considered health centre involve the challenges faced by it regarding the finances, a productivity of the hospital and the quality of service it provides the patients. Sometimes the quality is undermined due to the management of the hospital while sometimes it happens due to the casualty of the staffs. Dealing with the safety of the patients and maintaining their proper safety is an important challenge faced by the hospital. However, meeting patient satisfaction is another issue that depends on the quality of service provided and the importance given to the safety of the patients by the care centre. Moreover, security provided by the hospital along with maintaining regular standards is also of great concern for the hospital. However, one of the major issues faced by Al Qassimi Hospital is related to the dissatisfaction of the employees that has been focused on in this study.
The cost of treatment in modern times is increasing with passing time due to the utilisation and implementation of advanced technologies for treating the patients and carrying out the tests prior to the treatment for better analysis of the problems faced by the patients. The new and costly technologies have facilitated the faster treatment of the care users thus curing them. Along with this, it has also caused the price of the treatment to rise making it unaffordable for the poor people and difficult to afford for the people with marginal income such as the staffs of the care centre. Being the employees of the care centre, they had the assurance of getting facilities related to their health issues at minimal cost. However, to their surprise, the care centre deprived the staffs of any facilities and benefits related to the issues faced by them regarding their health. The centre also denied them the provision of health card insurance leading to their dissatisfaction (Braveman, 2014). Therefore, one of the major issues out of the issues encountered by Al Qassimi Hospital is the satisfaction of the employees. The absence of health card insurance is the major concern of most of the employees that lead to their dissatisfaction, as they have to face huge problems regarding their treatment and admission in Al Qassimi Hospital. Being the staff of the organisation, they are compelled to go through the same turmoil as that of an outsider patient, which is not acceptable, by them. This is the main reason behind their dissatisfaction leading to a lack of their concentration in their work, diminishing their efficiency in taking care of the care users and compromising the quality of services provided by the hospital which ultimately enforces the patients to complain about the staffs and the hospital. This adversely affects the reputation of Al Qassimi Hospital hampering its popularity and profit margin.
Cause of the issue
The issues, which surface in the chosen health care centre, must be effectively addressed for the progress, development and prosperity of the organisation. The reason for the existence of the issues is their causes. At times, the hospital management, as well as both the employees and patients, are responsible for causing both acute and serious problems. Therefore, the senior authorities and the managers must focus on the causes of the issues for resolving them or uprooting them for the development of the firm. The cause of the problems must be handled with care and must be handled tactfully so that it does not cause any harm to the care users or stakeholders.
The management of the health care centre must be cautious about the issues and their effects on the employees and staffs and must pay attention to the causes for addressing them properly without harming the interest of the patients and the staffs. Issues such as financial challenges occur due to the inefficient handling of the finances by the management of the hospital lack of which limits their capability of buying new advanced technologies for treating the patients effectively with efficiency thus increasing the pace of their treatment. This also hampers the productivity of the hospital. Lack of finance compels the hospital to abundance the staffs from their due medical benefits or health card insurance as spending for the treatment of such huge number of employees would drown the hospital in losses. In addition, the cause of major issue of the staffs may also be linked to the mismanagement or inefficient management of the care centre. The authorities of the Al Qassimi Hospital and the responsible persons of the management do not take proper care of the staffs and their security and safety, which leads to their disappointment. This is reflected in their work that in turn propels the hospital to go through other problematic situations such as maintaining proper standards and looking after the safety and security of the patients. In addition to this, the insufficient fund also compromises the security of the hospital by limiting the hospital from spending more amount on the safety measures such as installing fire alarms, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and employing more number of security guards (Frenk, 2013).
Therefore, the causes must be handled by the management in the most efficient and appropriate way for maintaining the reputation of the hospital among the patients. Moreover, it must also take care of the staffs and take action for resolving their issues for bringing in their job satisfaction for enhancing their efficiency and for providing the patients with better treatment. Moreover, the causes of a disappointment of the staffs must be looked upon by bringing alteration in the management and efficiently handling the finances of the hospital.
Legal obligations of the stakeholders
In order to mitigate any issues that arise within an organisation, the stakeholders play an important role. The stakeholders are the people who have a considerable interest in the growth and success of an organisation. The stakeholders are an important factor for the success of an organisation. Without the existence of stakeholders, it can be difficult for any organisation to operate according to the stakeholder under which the management depends on. The managers and the responsible person at the stake of the hospital need to conduct in an effective manner that may be beneficial for the hospital to look after its patients in an effective way. Sometimes, there may be some problems that may be bad for the hospital under which the works are being done. The absence of health card insurance is the major concern of most of the employees that lead to their dissatisfaction, as they have to face huge problems regarding their treatment and admission in Al Qassimi Hospital. The cost of treatment in modern times is increasing with passing time due to the utilisation and implementation of advanced technologies for treating the patients and carrying out the tests prior to the treatment for better analysis of the problems faced by the patients. This is a huge problem faced by the members of the hospital. This topic has been selected as in the modern day such problems can often lead to employee turnover. Satisfaction of the employees is necessary for any organisation (Jee, 2013). Numerous businesses offer medical coverage scope with differing deductive and co-paying for its workers. Doctors are the suppliers of medicinal support; patients are considered the beneficiaries. Government finances human services for the elders, the impaired and poor people. All partners have obligations and duties. Clearly, the relationship amongst the partners in the medicinal services framework is intricate. Two of the partners, under pharmacy firms and the insurance agencies, are publically claimed organisations recorded in the stock trade.
The essential obligation is to boost stockholder riches. Moreover, the essential objective of managers is to profit; in any case, their arrangement of medical coverage for representatives is an advantage, not a wellspring of benefit. Therefore, it may be harmful to the company to work in an effective manner to which the works, which had been looked after the stakeholders, would be appropriate and according to the patients. The employees who are associated with the hospital would need to demand some discounts under which there may be some principle under which it may be beneficial for the hospital and for the employees to work under the regulation of the hospital. Dissimilar to alternate partners doctors have coordinate trustee obligations and duties towards its patients. In spite of the fact that they get compensation for their administrations, the specialist persistent relationship is a hallowed trust that rises above financial reward. Patients have rights, obligations and duties. The duties of the stakeholders are to use the different ways under which the works would need to be done in an effective way that may be used as a protective shield for the hospital. The works Al Qassimi needs to perform in an efficient manner for the betterment of the hospital. The recommendation for solving the issues efficiently faced by the staffs has been mentioned in the section below (Naidoo, 2016).
Hence, it can be concluded that every business organisation needs to understand the benefits of the employees. In a health care sector, the employees or the staff is crucial to the success of the organisation. As a result, it is necessary for every health care centre to safeguard the interest of the staffs and ensure proper provisions are provided to them. In the case of Al Qassimi Hospital, it is necessary that the managers of the hospitals take proper precautions related to the success of the organisation and the satisfaction of the employees. The staffs need to be provided with a health card so that they can feel privileged to work in the organisation. The health card insurance needs to be provided to every employee so that they can take proper medical care of themselves when needed. This can enhance the motivation factor of the employees that can help them to remain loyal to the organisation. Hence, to summarise it can be said that the legal aspects are an important factor for the success of an organisation. In the case of Al Qassimi Hospital, the legal obligations of the stakeholders play a pivotal role in the success of the hospital.
