This report is all about the analysis of the business environment and its impact on the operation of the organisation. For discussing various facts about the business environment, Royal Children hospital has been considered. The external environment creates an impact on every organisation and RCH is not the exception. For avoiding the external threats and accepting the external opportunity, a better strategy needs to be developed. For improving the services of the hospital, it is necessary for the hospital in implementing technologies so that it can enhance person-centred care. There are different stakeholders in every organisation with various levels of interests. For securing a better performance in the organisation, it is also necessary for the organisation in considering the interests of the stakeholders so that the interests of the stakeholders can be satisfied. This report offers a brief knowledge of different stakeholders and their interest level in the organisation. Every organisation must take participation in ethics and social responsibility. RCH also has a good focuses on developing CSR. This report offers a brief knowledge about the CSR and ethical considerations applied by RCH. For handling the operational process of RCH with efficiencies, the involvement of a good manager is always necessary because they are associated with checking every type of operation of the organisation and improving it as per the requirement so that quality healthcare can be provided to the customers.

Introduction

The report is about analysing the business environments and their impact on organisational operations about the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) in Melbourne. Business environmental forces have a direct and significant impact on the organisation, its services and decision-making.

The RCH is known for offering excellent care for the children and their family members of Victoria for more than 140 years. It is the acute specialist paediatric hospital of Vitoria, and its care covers children of Southern New South Wales, Tasmania and other federations of Australia and abroad.  The vision of the organisation is becoming the leading children's hospital (Rch, 2019b). 

The purpose of the report lies in identify and analysing the environmental factors influences the strategic decision-making and organisational activities of RCH. The study involves investigating the general environment and the effect of technology on the organisation. Next, it evaluates the influence of advocacy group followed by the impact of ethics and social responsibility on RCH. Lastly, it focuses on identifying the four primary skills needed for becoming an efficient manager.

Task 1: General environment of RCH and the effect of technology  

The global climate covers the critical place of directing the corporate activity based on the needs of the society including all the public forces such as social, political, legal, environmental, technological and economical with long-term and direct action on a company. It reflects the overall trends and conditions in the community in which the firm operates. The complexity and dynamics of the general environment lead to changes in the whole exercises of the organisation. Here, for example, the technological factors can be taken into account that influenced the performance of RCH positively. RCH is a cutting-edge hospital for children that has a whole variety of paediatric services, a protuberant position as the national-wide trauma centre. The organisation obtains fund from the government for liver and cardiac transplantation projects. It indicates the level of technological advancement within the hospital. The organisation is committed to developing its facilities and making them more bolstering for service users and their families by advanced care planning (Williams et al. 2017). It helps to create more children surviving from a chronic medical condition. Further, RCH uses the science park environment for bathing children in sunlight that enable them to have fresh air while playing outdoors (Rch, 2019c).

Australia spends significantly on technological innovation that supports the growth of specific technology-based industries effectively (Williams et al. 2017). Consequently, the RCH is the first Australian hospital to reach the International Best Practice for Digital Health. Modern technology redesigning care and services for children with complex health conditions and it is enhancing end-to-end digital practice for children. Any medical service provider can access a single and real-time view of the entire journey of the patient and the interchange between disciplines. Moreover, for improving the effectiveness and transparency of patient recordkeeping, the organisation developed a new patient portal for making the partnership between patients' families and clinicians. Task 2: Specific environment of RCH and the impact of the advocacy group  

The specific situation is also known as the task environment that refers to the organisations and forces outside of a company with which the firm edges while conducting its corporate activities. Such factors are pertinent to the attainment of business goals directly, as they have an immediate and direct effect on actions and decisions taken by the manager. The specific environment of every organisation is distinctive and changes by conditions (Williams et al. 2017). The crucial elements of task environment include suppliers, customers, pressure groups and competitors (Berry and Wilcox, 2018). Grant (2014) commented that clients and customers of a company are the people and firms that buy its products and services. Suppliers are the organisations and people, who supply raw materials to the business. Competitors are the companies offering similar goods and services for capturing market share and customers of the company. Next comes the advocacy group or pressure group. They are the special-interest groups trying to influence organisational activities. Such groups have the ability to corporate success. Hence, managers need to be careful in their actions and decisions. For example, PETA’s or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals as created pressure on restaurants in terms of their process of handling animals at the time of the slaughter process. The influence of advocacy groups changes with the change in political and social attitudes. Thus, organisations need monitoring the main modifications in the community continuously. 

Similarly, for performing efficiently within the healthcare industry, RCH needs work under the pressure of advocacy groups such as the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Health Council (Williams et al. 2017). For instance, the AHPRA is accountable for the registration and authorisation of 10 health professions in Australia. Thus, it can inspect complaints related to conducting, performance and health of a registered health practitioner. Under this advocacy group, all the medical practitioner in RCH are bound to perform their duties efficiently so that no complaints are filed against them regarding professional misconduct, notifiable contact and unprofessional conduct (Lawhandbook,2019). Hence, RCH requires providing necessary training to the practitioners. So that their performance can meet quality standard and expectation. Besides, the Australia Patient Safety Foundation is another advocacy group that influence RCH to promote the safety of children through education, research and reporting incident.

Further, organisations also need maintaining privacy n confidentiality of patient information (Nationalstandards, 2019). Thus, the RCH requires following the described care level and installing the systems that are needed for delivering quality care. It needs providing training to the practitioners regarding the use of electronic recordkeeping and the process of maintaining digital health records for ensuring that they are unswerving with excellent practice and law.

Task 3:Concept of Ethics and social responsibility and RCH

Ethics and social responsibility incorporate the areas of moral decision-making, principles, governance problems and codes of conduct for an organisation. It involves a general displacement linked to prodigious experience appearing when things are inappropriate. It consists of judging a business by action that is morally permissible and not by efficiency. Thus, ethics are a set of principles accomplished by a company and a formless concept hard to organise. If the state lacks technological development, then it might have affected the efficiency of RCH negatively, as it would not have been successful in providing high-quality services to the children.

Further, the specific environment includes several influencers like customers, competitor and more and advocacy group are one of them. In the case of RCH, the AHPRA, Australia Patient Safety Foundation and NSQHS create their pressure for continuous improvement. Besides following thee regulations, RCH also invests in ethical research for inventing the best way of supporting children and helping them to live longer. For handling the performance in the RCH with efficiencies, involvement, a hospital administrator is highly essential so that it can help the hospital ion offering excellent quality of healthcare services.
