pages Pages: 4word Words: 890

Question :

Task 3 is a reflective piece of writing about your learning experience through this semester and how it has contributed to your professional philosophy and your intention to practice Person Centred Care.

Consider how your understanding of Roper, Logan and Tierney's domains of Biological, Psychological, Socio-cultural, Politico-economic and Environmental factors will assist you in your future practice when you will be practicing person-centred care. How does the experience of learning about these domains influence your personal philosophy of nursing and person-centred care?

Structuring your assignment

Firstly, it is important that your submission is structured using Gibbs reflective cycle. Please review the exemplars that have been written by the lecturers and provided for you on the WIKI page on the NRSG 138 LEO site. Reflective writing is a way of being proactive in your everyday learning and practice.

A reflective piece is all about YOU. It is expected that it be written in the first person. So, this way of writing is unlike other forms of academic writing and "I" and "me" and "I found" etc. are all not only acceptable but expected.

The structure of the assignment should include:

An introduction including a coherent description of what you learned about the RLT domains (biological, psychological, socio- cultural, politico- economic and environmental factors) Recognition of how you felt and your reactions to this new information -consider your own development in the unit An evaluation of the learning experience A critical analysis of what made sense to you — link this with academic literature A description of your personal philosophy of nursing as an outcome of your reflective learning - link this with current nursing literature Link your stated personal philosophy with person-centred care, and how you will implement this in future practice

Writing your assignment  The writing will demonstrate a reflection on your learning experience. You can use your writing from the unit content as a basis for this reflection. Refer to these pieces of writing and review, refine, reference and extend them to develop a cohesive reflection that represents your understanding of the Roper Logan and Tierney model of care and how this has informed your (beginning) personal philosophy of nursing

Please remember that the submission for the reflective piece needs to be a cohesive piece of writing.

References  You have been asked to provide references in your reflection and this will also be good practice for future academic writing and reflection. Please include intext references and a Reference List.

NRSG 138 ASSESSMENT TASK 3: WRITTEN REFLECTION

Introduction

This assignment describes the Roper, Logan, and Tierney’s domains of Biological, Politico-economic, Socio-cultural, Psychological, and Environmental factors in person-centred care. It is used to identify the changes in the life of a patient at the time of injury, illness. The goal of the Roper, Logan and Tierney’s model in nursing care is to provide independence to the patients. The nurse uses the Roper, Logan and Tierney’s model to assess the independence for the patient who is relevant to their daily living. This assignment recognizes the reaction and personal development process through the Roper, Logan and Tierney’s model and evaluates the learning experience to promote the independence to the patients through using the model. This reflective writing is described by using the Gibbs Reflective Cycle.

Recognition of reactions and personal development

The Roper, Logan and Tierney’s model is the nursing care theory which is based on the activities of the patients in their daily life. It is the complete assessment of the patient’s care. This theory assesses the changes in the life of the patient at the time of injury, illness, and admission into a hospital (Holland & Jenkins, 2019). This model assesses the planning for improving the quality of life and provides independence to the patient.

I think the Roper, Logan and Tierney’s nursing care model supports independence and promote the maximum independence to the patients (De Moura et al., 2015). It provides independence in the particular areas or the weak points of the patients which are challenging to handle alone for the patient.

I think this model helps the nurses to understand the patient's needs and it helps to assess the activities for the patients that provides independence to the patients. It helps the nurse to determine what support is needed to improve the patient’s health and provide them with proper independence (Castellani et al., 2016). This model helps to determine the dependence and independence factor of the patients. The nurse can identify the dependence and independence factor throughout the proper care plan for the patient.

According to the model, the five factors are involved in the Roper, Logan and Tierney’s nursing care model that includes Biological, Politico-economic, Socio-cultural, Psychological, and Environmental factors (Holland & Jenkins, 2019). I think this model is more beneficial nursing care model for the nurses to improve the health condition of the patients. This model helps to improve the communication, managing and understanding skill of the individual nurse.

Evaluation of learning experience

According to the above analyzation, I think the Roper, Logan, and Tierney’s nursing care model helps me in improving my understanding skill for the individual patient (de Moura et al., 2015). It helps in enhancing the assessment skill for determining the daily activities for the patient’s daily life.

This model is an individualized caring feature for the individual patient. This model helps me to measure the patient’s ability which is required for their further improvement of the health.

I think this model helps me to determine activities of daily life for the individual patient which is relative to their independence according to the five factors. The biological factor helps me to assess the impact of the current illness and injury of the patient. The psychological factor helps me to determine the effect of the cognition, emotion and spiritual beliefs into the individual patient. The sociocultural factors help me to determine the impact of the culture and society on the individual patients that includes class, status, expectation and more. The environmental factor helps me to determine the impacts of the activities, which is needed for daily life on the environment and the environmental impact on the daily life of the patient (de Moura et al., 2015). The Politico-economic factor helps me to determine the impact of the politics, government policies and economics of the country on the daily life of the patient. However, this model is beneficial nursing care model, which helps to meet the needs of the individual patients (Castellani et al., 2016). But, the weakness of this model is it is needed to adopted by all level of the entire nursing care service either this model not provide effective outcomes.

Critical analysis of personal understanding

After evaluating the learning experiences, it is revealed that the health needs of the patient are an essential factor for this model. The nurse should be aware of the needs of the patients that helps in improving the health of the patient. From my aspect, the nursing process helps to survive the patient by providing them with proper nursing care (Castellani et al. 2016). The Roper, Logan and Tierney’s nursing care model ensure that the patients should be placed into the safe environment, should be communicating with the other patients and nurse freely and attends the nurse appropriately. I think this model influences the activities which are required for the daily living of the patients. This model helps to improve the independence factor among the individual patient. This nursing care model helps in controlling and managing the daily activities like eating, working, breathing and drinking activities of the individual patient. This model helps to identify the factors which are responsible for occurring the particular disease (de Moura et al. 2015). This model provides attention to the factors which are required to prevent particular diseases. This model provides individual attention to individual patients to cure their illness. From my aspect, I think this process is the holistic approach of the nursing care model.

Personal philosophy of nursing and the outcome of the reflective learning

From my personal aspect, nursing is the process to provide a caring and safe environment to the patients that help to improve the health of the patient. The nurse should focus on the timely diagnosis of the individual patients and provide exceptional care in a hospital or nursing home to feel them like a home environment. The main aim of the nursing care model will inspire the patients and deliver positive messages to increase hope in their mind; it will help to improve the will power of the patients (Williams, 2015). The primary mission of the nursing policy is to provide excellent care of the patient's health, investigation about the problems of the patients. From my aspect, further education about a particular problem is required to improve the skill of nursing care. The nurse should be communicated positively with the patients that provide inspiration to the patients. Regular monitoring of the health condition of the patient and provides emotional support (Long, 2018). The nurse should be responsible for preparing the diet charts for managing and controlling their daily food habits. The nurse should be responsible for providing a safe and clean environment for the patients in the hospital. Consulting with the doctors about patient health and provides them home care treatment chart to prevent them from diseases. It is like a self-control or self-care chart that helps in improving the patient’s health individually.

Linking with personal philosophy and future practice

Person-centred care is the individual patients care to provide nursing care based on the activities of the patients in their daily life (Williams, 2015). It defines the meaning of daily living. The nurse uses the Person-Centered care model to assess the independence which is relative to the current patient condition. This model provides the care plan to improve the dependency factor into the independence factor. This model identifies the individual patient’s ability to perform daily activities. This model improves the independence factor and quality of the life of the individual patient through proper assessment about the Biological, Politico-economic, Socio-cultural, Psychological, and Environmental factors of the patients. This model also linked with my personal philosophy of nursing care learning. Nursing is all about caring and creating a safe environment for the patient to provide them with a healthy future (Karadaget al., 2016). The proper nursing education is required to improve the skill of the nurses and for getting up to date. From my aspect, the combination of the person-centred care model and personal philosophy of nursing care learning will help in improving the entire nursing structure in the hospital and nursing home.

Conclusion

After analyzing the Roper, Logan and Tierney’s Nursing care model, it is revealed that person-centred care model is the high-quality patient care process. It helps in building control in the daily activities of the patient’s life. It supports the independence to achieve personal needs. It improves the quality of the life of the patients. It gives meaningful life to the patients and provides them with a healthy future.
