Trauma –Family and Children
We live in a complicated society and the stress of performance amongst all including parents and children is too much these days and this had led to increased levels of anxiety and stress. While parents are busy working and are not able to give their kids ample time, the kids also feel the heat and have no one to speak their minds and hearts out to(Crowley, 2019). Thus due to performance pressure amongst kids, we see cases wherein kids have become mentally ill or becoming mentally ill and the fear of being scolded or rejection has made them introvert and of escapist nature. If we research and analyze, we see neural responses of a child are disturbing and needs attention. It is proven from the studies of human behavior that if a kid does not get attention, he would be stressed and become fearful and would lag in the mental growth. We also understand that such a kid is likely to be influenced by outsiders who can also take advantage of them or use them to their benefit. We would try to understand in detail the stress and trauma a child undergoes in such situations and how could we possibly reduce such factors.
Trauma and the causes
Trauma is a situation wherein one gets under a state of shock mentally and physically and is not able to react like a normal person should and thus exhibits strange behavior (Cahill, 2019). Trauma is the distressing experience and it can further threaten, and also make individuals feel anxious and feared or threatened. Under a traumatic situation, a person goes into a state of shock and fear and exhibits a feeling of stress and a state of denial and loneliness.
Every individual needs time to recover from a traumatic situation and the time of recovery could be sometimes too long and get prolonged for years depending on the type of trauma and fear one is exposed to. While certain examples of traumatic events can be encountering the close death experience and or even suffering due to the pain or injury or facing any sort of the illness, deaths or any sort of similar negative experience. These are resultant of parental neglect, not giving attention or appreciation, experiencing certain accidents by oneself or any other.
Trauma is also a result of the negative event which can lead to affecting the victim's mental and also causing emotional instability (Burns, 2019). There can also be substantial changes to the life-movements which can cause the physical attributes of the psychological impact. It is the traumatic experience in children that can create a life-changing within their mental and emotional abilities and cause the related affected sustainable issues and it would affect the cause of vulnerability trauma and that can lead to the emotional compromise to the well-being. With time and as we grow up we develop ceratin resistance to trauma and while adults would similarly experience the traumatic events affecting the children in the different ways and it can cause the difficulty to explore and overcome their psychological fear and thus is causes constant shock and fear leading to denial and abnormal reactions (Burns, 2019). Upon a traumatic incident, an individual could face a situation of constant irritability, and there can be a tremendous change to sudden or dramatic mood changes, and it can cause frustration, constant anger, or the constant stages of denial or depression. All the traumas lead to a situation called post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and call for a deep study that can attribute to the rapid life-threatening event for an individual and could also lead one to lifelong mental disorder and cause death as well. Trauma does triggers anxiety and impacts the release of stress hormones and the human body goes in a fight or flight mode thus making the mind and body under stress. the only way out of such a traumatic situation is consultation therapy and self-belief that an individual can do it. The traumatic effects, PTSD create imaginary situations and it forms the perception of the intense physical leading to stressful points to remember at every event. the after effect of trauma is fatal and could be so strong that it leads to permanent disorder passing to generations. For a child, such an experience could be daunting and thus many governments have been advocating teachers to be mentors of child and have also professed that parents should act as a friend and spend time with the kids (Flynn, 2019). Such an act could provide a ling term and viable solution to kids and we can have a happy childhood of kids where they could be stress-free and live happily. Such a curriculum or program ensures to protect the child and also restricts them face any situation of trauma and helps them come out of their fear.
Within the trauma, there can be two practices, that can lead to the compromise results and even cause the two historical studies, for example, one is getting a family support and the other is to get the child protection that can be done through the integrated services from the family support and child protection as advocated by the government. While supporting the child, the practitioners have to aim to provide a better service and get a stronger sense of engagement plans and support system which can shape up the present. It would also lead to the comprehension that can redefine the ‘protection’ and ‘support’ which can help to transform and allow to operate in the vacuum. To understand how the students and practitioners would need the family support and help to support the students and practitioners which can help the families understand the active policy engagements and it can be catering to the organizational level that would include the well-defined policies and knowledge as per the present context (Martin, 2019). Due to the major child welfare systems, it would further integrate the rapid changes by the Republic of Ireland and it would help to support the families as per the Child and Family Agency, Tusla. The prime purpose of the agency is to serve the child, protect them and also provide them a welfare service, which can consider health and social service which would be attributed to the statutory model of provision. From the framework of the agency, the independent statutory authority can be originated with the board approach and there can be reorientation that can be linked to the child welfare services and it can result in the preventative along with the early intervention. The strategies which are linked to building the relationship are to support and provide protective, preventative and extensive support services to bring consequent changes in Ireland. It can result in the national attributes and developing a framework to relate with the ‘fault line’ existing in between the children along with the families services that can reduce the “tension within the ‘front-end’ preventative services and also providing a ‘deep-end’ highly intensive relations to the treatment that can result in dichotomies of creation and perpetuation (McElvaney, 2020).
As per the Irish laws which have the modern outlook traditional along with building a model that can redefine the set beliefs in the given cultures and political climates which can shape up the child development. Comparing with the global standards of child welfare demands it is important to ascertain the outlook that is linked to international standards to protect the child and develop the risk management system which is part of Australia, the United States of America (US) and other developed nations. The welfare belief is to provide better child protection and welfare and child welfare is more linked to the protection services to nurture the support or care services. It is important identified as the child welfare services and it can be family support along with child protection. The welfare is linked to the child development that can be attributed to the children's rights and related to the engagement too starkly. It is linked to the family support, and resultant child protection and the child-centered approaches.
The intervention is based on the child support family welfare, and it is linked to the push-pull intervention that can help to provide prevention and protection(McElvaney, 2020). In Ireland, it has extensively found to protect the social workers and can represent the ‘reorientation’ and relation to risk management. From the government, there has always been ongoing support which can help to provide child protection and also correct the everyday practices that can exist between the families and children. The framework of adopting the healthy traditional child protection discourse can help to dominate strategy to provide extensive control through the child welfare legislation and having active legislation provided from the state and an agency level. The intervention is in the form of the child protection discourse and to provide the extensive services that can provide the intrusive, individualistic approach and better structural support to the children and their families. It can further generate helpful support to the child protection and welfare services which can provide an active engagement to the support and prevention practices for the children to be safe.
Due to the extensive child and welfare support family programs, is directed under the legislation of the State of 1991 Child Care Act that has created a landmark case in Ireland. It has further supported the of a better platform to transition and provides extensive support for the statutory duty as per the Health boards to provide betters support and emotional services to children and families(Moore, 2019).
At an individual level, the social workers can be provided who have rich experience in similar traumatic cases and can gain the direction as per the Central Council for Education and Training. The social worker has to adhere to the National Social Work Qualifications Board under the provision of the CORU, Ireland's which has to extensively provide support through the health regulators that are part of the social care education. Further, the social workers and the families get direction, training as per the education structure. The part of the registered profession can guide the worker along with the child care policies that can govern the course direction. The families and the caregiver have to be abiding by the Child Care Act in 1991, which ensures the children get better care. The professionals and the social worker have to enact as per the direction received for the specific cause and ensure the child protection system (Pembroke, 2019).
As the family has a major role to play to support and provide a better system in the child care to handle any sort of child abuse along with guiding to overcome the traumatic experience. To intervene, the training and co-operation should have a better provision of the diverse mix of statutory and there should be an intervention to support the voluntary inter-disciplinary provision (Treston, 2019). The families should also get active involvement and represent the engagement, support system that can protect and regulate the children and families, and further have healthy practices for the extensive support and protection. It is also important for the extensive practitioners to work over the disciplinary origin that can further redefine the position and provide the thresholds to relate with need or service provision. The child experiencing a traumatic or stressful experience needs the support of the child protection and can engage the social worker who can direct, guide and help the child to overcome the situation. The families along with the social worker can deal with such scenarios through love affection and care.
Marte Meo, Buckley’s assessment framework and family support services
As per the Marte Meo Buckley’s assessment framework, the importance of the family support and for the individual support services can help to redirect and provide guidance to human behavior. Majorly, there can be times, which can, can rectify any sort of attachment and the related issues which can experience a healthy start in life (Treston, 2019). The framework guides the children and the families, that can help rectify the attachment, provide support and also work over the environment of trust and help to achieve the personal, social and have professional engagements for the relationship to redefine the physical and psychological health. It also works over Marte Meo, Buckley's framework and further it is parental guidance for the child’s behavior that can work over the issue of trust and empathy and further create the power to handle her/his emotions. The framework further enacts as the behavior influences that can be helpful to derive the subtleties and link with the non-verbal and verbal communication. The methodology works over the daily situations and how it can rectify the parent and child and handle the professional and parent. It would be more focused on the methodology to be adopted and help to identify, activate and result in the constructive communication that can redefine the development of the traumatized child, family along with the professional. Through this method, it helps to redefine the range of therapies.
As we understand that due to modern-day work pressure and stressful environment, adults and child are exposed to traumatic situations. While the adults are groomed and could handle the pressure or can probably find means to get out of such a situation, it is the kids who get no assistance and support a gets stuck in their fears and thus could become prone to such fears and become mentally unstable a swell. Thus parents and adults need to give some time to study the behavior of their kids and spend some time with them as it would help them to spell out such a situation and adults thus could help them by guidance or counseling. In case it is not enough then nowadays, there are multiple options promoted by governments such as counseling services to keep the kids happy and make a better society. The traumatized kids can experience a tragic life and can become mentally ill or face constant rejection or have an introvert or escapist nature.
